I never thought I would read a sentence like this:
"...Mazlan Othman, the head of the UN's little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa)..."(read full article). It makes sense to me that this is a 'little known office', because the more people that knew, the more people there would be scratching their heads with incredulity. I mean really!?! Aren't there enough situations in the world needing the UN's attention (the necessity of the UN is an entirely different issue) that they might be able to limit their focus to planet earth?
I'd love to find out what the annual operating budget for the Office for Outer Space Affairs is. I bet it would put a lot of textbooks in schools, food in pantries, and probably alleviate some hospital wait times.
